For over 20 years Italian artist Agostino Iacurci (b. 1986) has dedicated himself to capturing the familiar beauty of the natural world and presenting it in a more urban, geometrical, and whimsical context on various carefully selected mediums, including large-scale murals, paintings, sculptures, and public installations all across the world.

Born in Foggia, Iacurci moved to Rome at age 19, where he studied Visual Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. He began his artistic journey with the painting of botanical-themed murals of plants and pottery, quickly establishing himself as a visionary of immersive large-scale works. Since then, Agostino has been traveling almost eight out of the twelve months a year, exploring his creative process in multicultural settings through private or public installations in the U.S., Europe, and Australia. He is now centrally based in Bologna, Italy, yet continues to explore the world and take on new challenges, such as his incubation term in Seoul, Korea.

Iacurci explores the artistry of story-telling in the natural world by placing natural objects in urban, man-made settings. Context is of the utmost importance for Iacurci, as his works are often inspired by site-specific motifs. For each work, Iacurci collects and includes elements of cultural story-telling, regional history, and literary tales, blending these elements together to tell the story of both the space his work is placed in and the artwork itself through the entire installation. Through murals and installations, the artist calls attention to our surroundings through visual and thematic comparison of the work and its physical context, helping viewers to better notice details of urban spaces, houses, and facilities through the flat, geometric forms in his works. Through these works, Iacurci is able to present a real space in a dream-like context, weaving together reality with vernacular tales.

Since 2009 Iacurci has created monumental wall paintings and installations for public and private institutions. Recent commissions include Cote-des-Neiges Mural project, Montreal (2022); Ludwigs-Hack-Museum, Ludwigshafen (2021); Life is Beautiful, Las Vegas (2021); Principal Place, London (2020); Yakutsk Biennale, Yakutsk (2017); Distrito Tec University, Monterrey (2016); Govind Puri Metro Station, New Delhi (2016); Istituto Mario Penna, Belo Horizonte, Brazil (2014); Fubon Art Foundation, Taipei (2012).

He participated in residency programs such as ISCP (International Studio & Curatorial Program), New York (2020-2022), and Plop x Cob Residency, London (2021). Iacurci received The New York Prize, promoted by Mibac, MAE and Italian Academy-Columbia University (2020), and Cantica21, Italian Contemporary Art Everywhere Prize (2021). He collaborated with international brands and publishers, including Apple, Adidas, Hermès, Herman Miller, La Repubblica, Penguin books, Starbucks and The New Yorker.
