ARTIVIST is delighted to present the Seoul exhibition of Greg Ito, the selected artist for our first 2026 residency program. Based in Los Angeles, Ito is a multidisciplinary artist encompassing painting, sculpture, installation, and digital media. Through these organically connected mediums, he constructs symbolic environments that fuse personal storytelling with vast cultural histories.
His practice is primarily grounded in his family history as a Japanese-American, using this as a departure point to reflect upon memory, resilience, and the profound complexities of the human condition. Through the ARTIVIST residency, which provides an open environment for international artists to engage with local creators, Ito has drawn inspiration from the energy and traditions of Seoul, translating new cultural experiences into his art.

The exhibition serves as the first domestic unveiling of the new works he produced during his residency in Korea. In pieces like Illuminated World from the Light Within, Ito explores how we navigate a world where light and darkness coexist. Light frequently acts as a guiding milestone in his work, vividly revealing connections, resilience, and transformative moments in our lives.
Through this showcase, viewers are invited into Ito’s poetic stages where memory, hope, and storytelling intertwine. The exhibition illuminates how his artistic universe has profoundly transformed and expanded through his specific explorations of place and time in Seoul.
